Who’s Yo Mama?
No matter where we go — movies, grocery store, laundromat, airport, post office, gas station, school, bank, church, or mall — there are always going to be children near and far. Of course, we have heard the old adage “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.” In my life, this has meant that we all look after children, support their success and check their misbehavior.
We recently celebrated Mother’s Day, but it made me think we are all in a position to nurture children. Whether an educator, parent, minister, social worker, psychologist, counselor, security guard, bus driver, cafeteria worker, custodian, relative, friend or even a complete stranger, I challenge us all to consider the question: Who’s Yo Mama? My response? Whoever is in close proximity to love, nurture, admonish, encourage, enlighten, inspire, or support a child — any child — should do so. Why? because YOU CARE! Thank you for caring.
