There’s No Shame in Asking for Help
I fell two weeks ago. I sprained my ankle and fractured my foot. Now I’m in a “boot” and walking on crutches for the next 8 weeks! So please be patient with me while I swallow my pride and admit that I desperately need help! Yes! This independent, always on the go woman, takin’ charge kind of woman needs help! Instead of being a “Superwoman,” I’ve decided to take a big gulp of “humble pie” and allow people to help me — open or close a door, carry my bag, let me on the elevator or escalator first, move chairs to open my pathway and so much more.
People, friends and strangers alike, have been very kind as I adjust to this “new me” for the next 8 weeks. My point and the “teachable moment” is that we cannot do everything by ourselves. Whether an administrator, teacher, parent, student, social worker, classified staff, psychologist, etc., there is no shame in asking for help. In fact, seek out the help you need to do your job in an even more efficient manner. I believe in YOU!
